PS4 Pro release date, news & features update: Console rolls out; Compatible games listed

The moment has come for all those who have waited for the PS4 Pro. Their 4K resolution gaming dreams can now finally happen.

The PS4 Pro is now available across North America and some parts of the world. For only $399, gamers can now enjoy enhanced graphics and gameplay as well as other features like an upgraded Netflix app.

Gamershell detailed that Netflix made some enhancements in order to support 4K game content. Their competitor, Hulu, also upgraded their system to match the PS4 Pro's settings, providing console owners quality videos for a whole new level of entertainment experience. This is also possible with the 4K and/or HDR video content which users can utilize to stream on their consoles via the internet.

However, it's noted in Pocket-Lint that the PS4 Pro cannot play 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. This is the only thing that's missing and fans have wondering about its omission because Sony is a major driver in the format.

In terms of the specs, it's detailed that the console carries under the hood a single-chip custom processor with x86-64 AMD "Jaguar", an eight-core CPU and GDDR5 8 GB of RAM. Other specs include Super-Speed USB, Bluetooth 4.0 (LE) and IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi.

As for the games compatible with the new console, players can expect a lot of topnotch titles that Sony intentionally picked to give it smoother frame rates and even extra graphic effects. 

Some of the games included in the list are "Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection," "Battlezone," "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered," "The Elder Scrolls Online" and "Fallout 4."

"Gran Turismo Sport," "Hitman," "Horizon: Zero Dawn," "Infamous: Second Son," "NBA 2K17," "Paragon" and "Killing Floor 2" are also now 4K-ready. Even "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is included, which means Lara Croft's adventures is so much better in 4K, running at 30 FPS.
