'Real Housewives Of New Jersey' News: Teresa Giudice Starts 15-Month Prison Sentence

Teresa Giudice, the star of the show "Real Housewives of New Jersey," reported to prison on Monday to start her 15-month sentence after she and husband Joe Giudice pleaded guilty to tax fraud. They were sentenced last year.

Teresa was due to start her prison sentence first before her husband begins serving his own 41-month sentence so that one parent would be left to take care of their four young children.

Joe did not accompany his wife on the ride to prison.

Teresa made the 90-minute trip to Danbury, Connecticut, reportedly arriving early at 2 a.m. even though her reporting time was around 3 a.m. Elaborating on her trip to prison, her attorney James J. Leonard Jr., informed news outlets that she took her dinner first before going to prison.

Leonard also noted that Teresa was "anxious to start her sentence and then get it behind her, as she wants to get back to her family, where her four girls are her primary focus." He also added that she appeared "very somber" before she made the trip to prison.

Leonard also informed E! Online that "Teresa was hoping to turn the experience into something positive and, she would like to work in the kitchen facility in the prison because she was a good cook."

It is expected that the reality TV star will spend around 85 percent of her 15-month sentence in prison and could be released in December this year if no change is made on her sentence. Joe, who was given a 41-month prison sentence, will have to report for the start of his term in March 2016. He is currently at home looking after the couple's four daughters Gia, 13, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 8 and Audriana, 4. Leonard said he is confident that "Joe is capable of taking care of them."

TMZ reports that Teresa turned down an offer by Bravo TV to film her goodbye to her family before she headed off to prison, and it is likely that the reality TV star lost a huge payout in the process.
