Since its release in 2010, Rockstar Games' "Red Dead Redemption" has given gamers a renewed interest in the wild, wild west. Fans have been waiting for a sequel to "Red Dead" for years, and Rockstar has just announced that the game will be coming in fall 2017 with a trailer set to come out on Oct. 20.

In subsequent Twitter posts, Rockstar has been teasing fans little by little. No big information came with any of the posts, but gamers can recognize the "messy" red aesthetic that comes with the "Red Dead" games.

The first post had the Rockstar Games logo covered in red and fans were already guessing that it had something to do with the sequel to the cowboy shoot-em-up.

The second post was less subtle, and it featured a group of seven figures walking in front of a sunset. The figures in the image were also wearing cowboy hats and gear that's very reminiscent to the "RDR" franchise.

The third and final announcement gave fans a better look at the seven figures and announced the release date of the game. Though the game may not be coming for a while, fans will get a first look when the trailer comes out on Oct. 20.

Some fans have pointed out that the seven figures may well be an homage to the movie "The Magnificent Seven," a wild west action film which was a remake of Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai."

The image has led other fans to wildly speculate on what it means. Some guessed that the game may lean more on cooperative gameplay. Others also guessed that Rockstar is trying to build the same community that it has with "Grand Theft Auto V."

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is set for a release in fall 2017.
