'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date news update: new teaser to come out later this month?
Fans were expecting to learn more about "Red Dead Redemption 2" at The Game Awards and the PlayStation Experience (PSX) 2016, but the events have come and gone, yet no new bits about the sequel.
It is believed that fans will not hear about the game this year and that new information or a trailer will not come until spring next year.
However, it is also being said that a new preview for "Red Dead Redemption 2" could come out later this month as Rockstar has a purported aggressive approach in promoting the game.
The folks at Reddit are divided about this. One user hopes that Rockstar will release at least screenshots from the sequel as a present for fans on Christmas Day.
Others are not hoping to see anything about "Red Dead Redemption 2" anytime soon. Rockstar skipping PSX 2016 and the TGA was expected as they are known for making big reveals at random and mostly online and not in big events.
Apart from the first look trailer and a teaser for a multiplayer mode, not much is known about the highly anticipated sequel. Some believe that it will get a subtitle soon that will make sense of what it will be about.
Before "Red Dead Redemption 2" was confirmed, fans will remember a leak that the game will be subtitled "Legends of the West" although this remains unfounded.
"Red Dead Redemption 2" is technically the third title in the "Red Dead" series and the fact that the game is titled that way is because it is heavily connected to the first "Red Dead Redemption" game. After all, John Marston and the Dutch gang are all back.
There are speculations that it will be a prequel instead of a continuation of the story of the original, although having a "2" in the name appears to somehow defeat that.
When the announcement trailer for "Red Dead Redemption 2" was released, the fanbase went into overdrive. Rockstar could simply be plotting the next phase of marketing to duplicate that success.
For now, fans can get a load of the original "Red Dead Redemption" game and its "Undead Nightmare" expansion starting today on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PC.
"Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released in fall 2017.
