It has been six long years since the "Red Dead Redemption" was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. After gaining a huge following all over the world and garnering positive reviews from game critics, not much has been heard if the game studio behind the successful "Red Dead" video game series will update the franchise soon.

The highly speculated next installment of the "Red Dead" series, informally tagged as "Red Dead Redemption 2," is expected the fans to be released in the near future. While Take-Two and Rockstar, the successful publisher and game developer behind the highly popular "Red Dead" series, have not spilled any details as of yet about an upcoming game project, the fans are relying on speculations and leaks online.

So far, the rumors are rife that Rockstar Games is going to show something new to the players. It is a general knowledge that the "Red Dead" series took place in a Western setting, but for "Red Dead Redemption 2," it is possible that Rockstar will take the action out of the West. According to a report from Express UK, it is possible that the "Red Dead Redemption 2" will happen in other states. If this is the case, then it is possible that the game series' main protagonist, John Marston, will be joined by additional heroes. The fans may be rooting for multiple lead characters once the sequel gets released.

Aside from the new "Red Dead" sequel, Rockstar is also rumored to launch the sixth installment of its other highly popular game franchise "Grand Theft Auto." As reported by Game N Guide, it seems that the "Red Dead Redemption 2" may be following the footsteps of "GTA VI," as the game is also rumored to explore new settings, with a new location speculated to be in Tokyo, Japan. On the other hand, if Rockstar decides to focus on "Grand Theft Auto" or other game projects, then the "Red Dead Redemption 2" may not happen anytime soon.
