"Red Dead Redemption 2" is one of the most awaited games for next year. Not much is known about the game yet, but Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed a few details about the sequel.

Zelnick spoke at the MKM Partners event where he revelled at the success of "Red Dead Redemption" and how it beat the odds despite the belief that "a western wouldn't work."

"We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public. When we launched Red Dead, it did," Zelnick said via GameSpot.

"And those times were right for that. And I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again—and that's not meant to be cute," he added.

Zelnick also said that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will feature "incredible emotional depth." "You can expect there to be great story elements and great gameplay elements," the executive added.

In other news, a new Reddit leak suggested that the sequel was in the works since 2014, four years after the original was released. This was revealed in an online portfolio posted by sound designer Joe Cavers.

This suggests that Rockstar is already deep into the production of "Red Dead Redemption 2." A Reddit user pointed out that the studio was working on it for a while even before Cavers was brought in for the sound elements.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is envisioned to be the next big thing for Rockstar. An online mode reminiscent of the "Grand Theft Auto Online" mode, which is still going strong and continues to expand, is expected to come with the game as well.

Looking at the success and the scale of the "GTA Online" mode, a version of "Red Dead Redemption 2" will certainly be one to look forward to.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released fall of 2017.
