The CW has decided to end "Reign" with season 4. Before the cancellation, it was already rumored that the show's declining ratings will lead the network to pull the plug.

In the wake of the news about the cancellation, the cast and crew took to social media to thank fans of their support and for the unique experience the show has given them.

The writers of the show promised that fans will be "pleased" with "Reign" season 4. "Our three queens remain strong in the face of so many troubles," they teased.

Series lead star Adelaide Kane took to Instagram to express gratitude for the support fans have given to the show. "Well guys it's been a hell of a four years," the actress wrote.

She added that she is "saddened" by "Reign" season 4 marking the show's end, she is also "excited" about what the future has for her and "all the wonderful friends I've made along the way."

"I've grown up on the Reign set. The cast and crew have become my family and I cannot thank the network enough for entrusting me with this glorious, silly wonderful show for four full seasons! I've given this show my all and I hope I've done it justice. Thank you for watching and supporting me for all these years," she told her fans.

"Reign" season 4 will mark the return of Mary (Kane) to Scotland. In the show's final year, she will meet two men whom she will marry.

First will be Lord Darnley to be played by Will Kemp. The other will be Bothwell to be portrayed by Adam Croasdell. It looks like the characters will be a huge part of the season.

Fans will also meet in "Reign" season 4, Catherine's (Megan Follows) least favorite daughter, Leesa, to be played by Anastasia Phillips.

"Reign" season 4 will premiere on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
