'Resident Evil 7' news: First wave of DLCs now available for PS4; Banned Footage Vol. 2 expansion to arrive on Valentine's Day
The latest expansion for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is now live, and a new gameplay trailer for the new DLC has been released.
A week after the game rolled out, Capcom released the first wave of expansion packs for the horror video game last Monday. The new content is called Banned Footage Vol. 1, and it is now available on PlayStation 4. Included in the DLC are two "Banned Footage" scenarios, along with an extra mode called Ethan Must Die.
In the Bedroom Scenario, players figure out a way to escape from a locked room. The Nightmare Scenario tasks players to fend off waves of opponents and make it out alive in the morning. Meanwhile, Ethan Must Die is a difficult mode not connected to the tapes. It is also not linked to the game's main storyline, and unlike the other modes, it doesn't support PSVR.
Banned Footage Vol. 1 can be accessed by purchasing the game's season pass worth $30, while the expansion can be bought on its own for $10. The DLC is now out for PlayStation 4, but it will arrive later for the PC and Xbox One on Feb. 21. The survival thriller game's next DLC, on the other hand, is scheduled to be launched on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.
In a press statement from Capcom, the company has announced that the number of units shipped three days since the game's release has already hit the 2.5 million mark. Although the number is strong by most standards, it isn't good enough for the company's biggest game franchise. The figure is still far behind the debut sales of "Resident Evil 6" and "Resident Evil 5," which reportedly contributed to the recent decrease in Capcom's share value. It is believed that the poor reception for the previous installment affected the fans' reaction to the new game.
Developed and published by Capcom, "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
