"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is taking immersion to the next level by releasing an official 4D candle for the game's VR experience.

Merchoid wants to step up the game's immersion by reintroducing an old technique made popular in the 60s, so the company has created a "Resident Evil 7" 4D candle. It is meant to be paired with the game's PlayStation VR version to include another sense to the overall experience. The 4D candle claims to simulate the smells of the game's setting which is the Baker Family home.

The video game merchandise retailer notes that their house smells of "foisty, old timber and blood," which shouldn't be much of a surprise since the Bakers' basement is actually a slaughterhouse. The candle is now available for pre-order via Merchoid's website, and it will be shipped starting Jan. 20 — four days before the game's release. Priced at $16 a pop, the candle will burn for up to 20 hours and could last through a large part of the game.

In other news, as part of the promotion for the upcoming survival horror game, Capcom reveals that a special event will soon be held in London. Running from Jan. 20 to Jan. 23, "Resident Evil 7: The Experience" lets participants explore the Baker home in real life. The event's official website notes that "The Experience" is free, but it can only accommodate 28 pairs of participants each day on a first-come, first-served basis.

The exploring pair will be given 45 minutes to solve puzzles to determine what has happened to journalists who mysteriously disappeared in the Bakers' residence. For individuals local to the London area who want to attend the event, participants are advised to arrive at 11:30 am local time at The Dray Walk Gallery, 91 Brick Lane.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, and Xbox One on Jan. 24.
