'Resident Evil 7' release date news: Upcoming survival horror game to run 1080p, 60 fps on PS4 and Xbox One
With "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" arriving to both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in less than a month, many have been wondering which platform will give players the best visual experience: PlayStation 4 (PS4) or Xbox One? Thankfully, there will be no losers this time around as Capcom has revealed that both platforms will have the same quality.
In an interview with GamingBolt, "Resident Evil 7" producer Masachika Kawata revealed that the upcoming survival horror video game will run at 60 frames per second (fps) and 1080p resolution on both the PS4 and Xbox One. The game will also support HDR for PS4, PS4 Pro and Xbox One S. Kawata revealed this is to ensure that all players will receive matching levels of gameplay.
"When it comes to new hardware, I think that the biggest takeaway is just making sure that it's not just one party that is excited about this product. It has to be a mutual interest on both the manufactures side, publisher side, [and] consumer side. And only when everyone is on board and everyone's excited for the product does it allow the opportunity to expand the game industry and the user base. Because otherwise it's just a lot of extra effort on our side," he explained.
"Resident Evil 7" already comes highly anticipated given that it will be returning to its core theme — horror — which is what made the franchise so successful in the first place. With this latest development, hype for the upcoming first-person video game has understandably increased.
In the 11th main "Resident Evil" installment, players will be introduced to Ethan Winters. Unlike its predecessors, "Resident Evil 7" will feature a protagonist that is not adept in combat. Ethan will travel to Dulvey, Louisiana in search for his wife, Mia. He is led to a haunted plantation mansion which is the home of the mysterious Baker family.
"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is scheduled for release on Jan. 24, 2017 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows PC.
