'Rick and Morty' season 3 air date, update, news: Will the animated series premiere this year?
"Rick and Morty" fans are anticipating the day the animated science-fiction TV series will return to the small screen for season 3. Unfortunately, until now, there is still no announcement on its exact premiere date.
According to Cinema Blend, the writers of the show, Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener, spoke to the Chicks Who Script podcast and revealed that all of the episodes of the third installment have already been written. They have also already animated a part of the script. It's no doubt then that the entire production team is hard at work.
However, there is still no premiere date for "Rick and Morty" because it's uncertain when the animation process will be completed. It's also detailed that after making everything into an animation, it will still need to go through the final steps for finalization which include screening at the show's production offices.
Because the screening part isn't going to take too long, there's still a chance that season 3 will premiere before 2016 ends. Fans should take note though that creator Dan Harmon already mentioned before that for the last few months, the whole team of animators worked hard day and night because they take their jobs very seriously.
They are also trying to maintain their reputation of bringing in quality production value in their animated series. That's also the reason why they are confident despite the delay. After all, they are just making sure that everything is perfect. They also use an unorthodox method which is known as "retroscripting" in which animators work around ad-libbed dialogues that make the show funnier and more relatable.
Since nothing is certain yet at this point, fans will have to stay tuned to see if "Rick and Morty" will make it this year. Rumor has it that it will have a Dec. 2 premiere date. But considering the amount of work that still has to be done, "Rick and Morty" season 3 may arrive in 2017.
