'Rick and Morty' season 3 news: Adult Swim trolls fans with latest teaser; co-creator Dan Harmon shares update on production
Adult Swim has recently trolled fans with a new teaser for "Rick and Morty" season 3.
Since the animated series wrapped up in 2015, fans have been wondering when "Rick and Morty" will return to the small screen. While the upcoming season is still without a definitive release date, a new teaser was recently released.
The network announced that the clip's first scene is 40 seconds of new footage from season 3. Much to the dismay of viewers, the folks behind "Rick and Morty" was just playing with their emotions as the video just features quick snippets of the show from seasons one and two. Adult Swim asked fans to share the clip with their friends and then downvote it.
"Our sincerest apologies, there appears to have been a technical issue with our editing program we will attend to this as quickly as possible," Adult swim Australia wrote in the comment below the video.
In a recent podcast interview earlier this month, co-creator Dan Harmon gave an explanation on the program's long delay. He briefly discussed the steps that had to be taken before an animated series is aired on TV.
"They're drawing it," he said. "Here's how cartoons work. First, you write them, then you draw them for a really long time. Everything needs to be on paper. So you can see it. So if all I do is write it and then put it on TV it will look like a script, instead of Rick and Morty, which you seem to like," Harmon went on to say.
Launched in 2013, "Rick and Morty" follows the time-travelling duo Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty. Season 2 wrapped up in October 2015, but its complex storyline was left on a cliffhanger that led to several mind-boggling fan theories.
The show's first two seasons are currently available for streaming via Adult Swim's official website.
