'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date: Justin Roiland asks the same question fans ask him
Fans are still waiting for the official announcement of the "Rick and Morty" season 3 premiere. The target release date was December last year, which obviously did not come to pass.
The show's co-creator Justin Roiland recently took to Twitter to pose the same question fans have been asking for a year now: "Where the hell is season three?!!!"
This, of course, resulted in fans throwing the question back at him since if there is someone who should know when "Rick and Morty" season 3 will premiere, it should be him and his co-creator, Dan Harmon. It is unclear what he already knows about the premiere date or if there is already one designated for the series, but Roiland's tweet shows that they are aware of the anticipation for Rick and Morty's return to the small screen. Last week, Roiland also tweeted out about the new season, saying that it will not premiere during the first week of this month as some appear to have suggested.
Back in December, he said, "Nobody ever asks me when season three is coming. I've never been asked even once. I guess everybody is just patiently waiting?"
Rumors have it that production for "Rick and Morty" season 3 is still well underway. After all, this season will have 14 episodes, four more than the previous one. Naturally, this will consume additional time.
A teaser for the Adult Swim hit's return has been released though. It only shows sketches and not a full-on animation, which could be hinting that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. In the video, Rick and Morty are back to traveling from one dimension to another.
The raunchy teaser, which also included a "Star Wars" nod, suggested that Rick will be able to get out of prison eventually. How that will happen, fans will learn in "Rick and Morty" season 3.
