'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date, plot spoilers and updates: Third season might not launch in December
Little is known about the third season of Cartoon Network's science-fiction comedy TV series "Rick and Morty." Though many are expecting the animated show to launch this year, recent developments suggest that it won't be airing anytime soon.
Rumor has it that the third season will be launching in December. However, according to a Reddit user, this might be just a rumor, since a December release for the show seems highly unlikely.
Based on the thread, Reddit user named Pop David is believed to be the one of the design assistants for "Rick and Morty." In the discussion, which was about the possibility of a 2016 release, Pop David asserted that it is impossible.
He wrote, "I can't say it's 100% not going to happen, more like 99%. One of the mods already made a sticky using a long comment of mine to that effect, but people are gonna believe those clickbait articles regardless, sadly."
To note, all the speculations about a 2016 release started in January, when the developers stated that they will do their best to stick to their word. At the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con held in July, the panel for "Rick and Morty" showed their loyal audience a trailer which indicated that the upcoming season is still in its early stages of development. Previously, the third season of the show was rumored to launch in August, but it never did premiere.
The developers have yet to announce the details for the forthcoming season. But Dan Guterman, write and co-producer for the show, teased the latest development of the animated show. He tweeted, "And I'm officially done. #RAM #S3."
If Guterman just finished writing the show, it might take a while for it to officially launch since the studio needs to animate his completed work.
Since Cartoon Network and the show's producers have yet to confirm the December release date rumors, fans should just treat the reports as speculation until proven otherwise.
