Adult Swim remains silent about the release date of "Rick and Morty" season 3, but series co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland seemed to have dropped a few hints about the highly anticipated return of the sci-fi animated series.

In an interview with Den of Geek, the series creators admitted that they did not expect the success of the show.

"It's an honor to see Rick and Morty join the exclusive club of shows over nineteen episodes," Harmon said. Roiland also added that she was overwhelmed with the show's instant success. "I look forward to continuing their adventures!" he added.

Harmon also joked about their intention to ask Adult Swim to give them an incentive for the show's success. "It's time to demand that the network allows us to draw the characters going to Hawaii," the series co-creator added.

The creative duo also revealed in a previous interview with the same publication that they widened the diversity inside the "Rick and Morty" writer's room by hiring more heads for the upcoming season. "There was a craving for a gender balance in the writers' room that we had never had, but I'm also very proud of the fact that we didn't compromise ourselves following that craving," Harmon stated.

While the release date for "Rick and Morty" season 3 remains a secret, speculations claim that the animated series will return on Christmas day based on the show's recent Instagram post that has a holiday theme.

But those who had been watching the show from the very first season pointed out that the photo showing the snow-covered Smith house that was adorned with Christmas decors was already seen in the "Anatomy Park" episode of season 1. This could mean that the post has nothing to do with the rumored Christmas release date.

The premiere of "Rick and Morty" season 3 is expected to come out before the end of the year.
