'Rick and Morty' season 4 spoilers: Mini-episode released, premiere to take place later this year
"Rick and Morty" season 3 will not premiere this month and the creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland made sure the world knew that with a four-minute "improvised" episode.
Titled "Summer of Future," the short installment featured the duo behind the show doing an impromptu scene with the cast of the series. They recited some lines and even did themselves the transitions that happen in an actual "Rick and Morty" episode.
There it was confirmed that "Rick and Morty" season 3 is not coming this month, despite the rumors around the internet that it will premiere this August.
If anything, not only was the mini-episode a treat to fans, it also helped them get by the wait for the new season and also prepared them for return of the beloved science fiction duo later this year.
As far as the plot goes, there is not much revealed about "Rick and Morty" season 3. However, the creators promised that fans will be pleased with the new season as they took to heart much of the requests of the viewers.
The creators also spoke about the development of the next season and how it is much harder to do episodes. In an interview with Shockya.com, Harmon said that "it's been really hard this season."
"I mean it's just because the expectations and what we've done, looking at what we've done, looking at how it's been received," Roiland then elaborated.
Voice actor and producer Ryan Ridley, who was also on the interview, revealed that it is also about reaching the potential of each episode, "creating the best possible version that it could be."
He added that they make sure that every episode of "Rick and Morty" is a masterpiece with Roiland adding that internally, the bar is really high.
"We don't want to have a bad episode that's universally considered oh, that's Rick and Morty's—that may arguably exist already but I dunno," Roiland explained.
"Rick and Morty" season 3 premieres later this year on Adult Swim.
