'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' news: one actor from the film might be back for more 'Star Wars' film

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is a juxtaposition of a lot of things. It is tied to the rest of the saga films, yet it also stands on its own. It does not have any Jedis but the Force is very prevalent in its storyline. It gives a feeling of hopelessness, yet hope springs anew. Lines are being blurred in a way that fans linger on the thought of what other stories — whether about the Rebellion or about the Empire — have yet to be told before the Skywalkers even emerged into the scene. Unfortunately, however, these possible scenarios will have to make do without any of the six misfits who paved the way toward the stealing of the Death Star plans.

Surely, Gareth Edwards did not pull any punches with the first standalone "Star Wars" film as it delivered what it has promised — a dark, gritty flick set in the familiar universe. It also did what a lot of followers kind of expected but also half dreaded — kill everyone from Jyn's squad just when they were beginning to be lore favorites. But with the film already hitting theaters, details about one actor from the squadron of six actually has the option in the contract to appear in other future "Star Wars" film.

Apparently, Jones has a sequel option in her contract as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. This is in contrary with Lucasfilm Ltd. confirming that regardless of how successful "Rogue One" would be, which it already is — with a potential $150 million opening weekend — there will be no sequel to it. And that only makes sense as the John Knoll narrative bridges the Scarif mission successfully all the way to Princess Leia's Corvette ship in a matter of minutes, with arguably one of the most iconic Darth Vader scenes to date.

However, that does not mean that anyone from the cast can no longer appear in any other movies from the franchise. It is important to note that the timeline of these stories has been jumbled in all sorts of ways and with the spinoffs cruising fantastically, there is still a chance that some sort of a prequel story will be developed. For starters, reprogrammed droid, K2SO (Alan Tudyk), has been an instant hit in the film and his backstory alone is interesting enough to be focused on. Cassian Andor's (Diego Luna) murky past also prompts fans to wonder what happened in his life for him to join the Rebellion at the early age of six.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is now already playing in theaters nationwide.
