Ronda Rousey UFC news: Cyborg's coach invites Rousey to train with them
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes has exposed a lot of flaws in Ronda Rousey's stand-up during their fight at UFC 207. The one-time champ looked like a stationary target during the bout and Nunes just continued to land one head shot after another until Rousey's face was all bloodied up. It was brutal to watch.
Her back-to-back losses to Nunes and Holly Holm have exposed her flaws. If Rousey wants to continue fighting in the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA), she will have to improve her striking skills, especially her defense. But it looks like a rival is willing to help her out.
Jason Parillo, Cris "Cyborg" Justino's coach, recently told the Extra Rounds podcast (via FOX Sports) that Rousey was welcome to train with them, and he said training with Cyborg might help her get back to the top of the bantamweight division.
"They could train together, now. Cris could help Ronda improve. I wouldn't mind seeing Ronda come down and work with Cris a little bit," Parillo stated.
Cyborg is the current Invicta FC featherweight champion, and she is perhaps the most feared striker ever in women's MMA. Rousey could learn a thing or two from her. Many fight fans have been calling for a fight between Rousey and Cyborg for years now, but Parillo has admitted that the fight may never happen.
"If you ask me, that fight's over," Parillo said. "That fight was just holding on by a string as it was because, if you ask me, Ronda was never going to agree to that fight. Even if she would have blown this Amanda Nunes away. I mean, maybe it would have given her confidence to take on Cris. But really? No."
The two might never fight, but Parillo said Rousey could still make a comeback at 135. But it's still up to Rousey if she wants to fight again or retire.
