Praised highly by both movie critics and fans, "Gone Girl" has taken the movie world by storm. The most enticing parts of the story are the unexpected twists and turns that seem to mirror the real love story of Rosamund Pike, the main star in the film.

Pike, who plays Amy, is reported to have a colorful love story a well.

The movie revolves around an unhappy couple who is caught up in a murder-drama after the wife went missing. Comparing to Pike's personal life, "that's a pretty straightforward plot," according to Daily Mail.

It is reported that Pike's past is as twisted as the plot of the movie. One of the examples of her failed relationship in the past was the one with co-Oxford student Simon Woods who broke up with her after realizing "he's gay."

The other tragic relationship was one with Director Joe Wright. They were engaged in 2007. However, the director discovered that even before the engagement, Pike had already sent pre-wedding invitations to her friends and relatives without his consent. After he learned about Pike's secret move, he cancelled the wedding just weeks after they started planning the event.

Pike is currently pregnant with her second baby with partner Robie Uniacke, who is 18 years older than her.

Meanwhile, Pike shared her thoughts on marriage and love during an interview with Spectrum Magazine.

"People have ridiculous expectations of a mate. In my grandmother's day, you wouldn't expect your husband to fulfill the same need in you as your sister, or girlfriends, or colleagues at work. You'd have different needs met by different people," said Pike.

"Gone Girl" is a film adapatation of Gillian Flynn's 2012 novel.
