Samsung officially announced on Monday the launch of the Galaxy A7, its slimmest phone, showing that the company is investing seriously in creating phones with metal bodies.
The launch of the phone means that the company will have another mid-range offering. Many have reported that the phone will be priced around $420 without a contract.
As for its design, the Galaxy A7 has many of the features of the Galaxy Alpha, which is slowly being phased out by Samsung. It also has elements from the recently released A3 and A5, most importantly a metal clad body. The new smartphone is also extremely slim and measures a mere 6.3 millimeters, making it even slimmer and lighter than the iPhone 6 Plus.
The LTE 4G version will feature a 1.8GHz Quad-Core and 1.3GHz Quad-Core processor while the 3G Dual SIM version will have a 1.5Hz Quad-Core and+1.0GHz Quad-Cores processor.
The A7 will come in two chipsets which will differ depending on region. Samsung, however, has not confirmed yet what chipset is going to be used on the A7. Many have speculated it could either be a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 or 32-bit Exynos 5430. The phone will come with 2GB of RAM.
The display on the phone's 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen will be a full HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels or an HD ready resolution of 1280x720 pixels. As for its operating system it is going to be the Android 4.4 KitKat.
The rear camera on the Samsung Galaxy A7 is a 13 megapixel autofocus version which will come with a LED flash. The front facing camera is a 5 megapixel version and will come with Auto Selfie and Ultra Wide Shot modes. The rear facing camera will also have a Rear-cam Selfie mode and other features which are already present on the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3.
The Galaxy A7, according to GSM Arena, will be launched initially in Russia and China. It maybe be priced lower when it is launched in the U.S. Other websites have noted that the phone could be priced much lower or in the vicinity of $420 when it is launched..
