Samsung Galaxy J5 finally gets Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow; other handsets to follow

One of the biggest issues smartphone owners have to go through is that their handset will eventually run out of updates and they will be forced to buy a new phone despite their current one still functioning properly.

Sometimes apps only work on a certain version of the operating system, and this does not only apply to iOS or Android.

For companies like Samsung who always have a range of mobiles being released regularly, this could be a problem that will give a constant headache to consumers.

Luckily for the users of the original Samsung Galaxy J5, a phone which was only released in 2015, they will finally experience the benefits of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update.

The new operating system has already been in circulation for less than a year now, but it is only now that the Galaxy J5 will get their first taste of Android Marshmallow.

Reports claim that the rollout is now being done in India, but other regions should also be getting the over-the-air (OTA) update soon.

Information reveals that the file is around 870 MB in size and should have a build number of J500FXXU1BPF4 just so those who are going to download are sure they are getting the official OS.

Outside of the Galaxy J5, there are still other Samsung handsets hopeful of getting the Marshmallow update, including the Galaxy A7, Galaxy A8, Galaxy J3, and more.

According to IBTimes, there will be a release soon but fans have to wait for it. Unfortunately, those who have acquired or used the handsets in China are still stuck with Android 5.1. 

With the rumor mill suggesting that the newer Android N will release later this year, this could either be a worrying sight for those who are still without Marshmallow or good news for smartphone users who are on the latest OS at the moment.
