Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 release date, specs, rumors: Upcoming devices to have foldable designs?
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy smartphones might be having an innovative new structure when it debuts into the market. Aside from a foldable structure, the smartphones will also have a series of upgrades in terms of features.
According to Yahoo, Samsung is planning to create a dual screen smartphone model for both the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 8. The other model will have two screens, one on the front and one on the back, while the other model will have a foldable OLED display. Japan Display Inc. is expected to be the supplier for the dual-display smartphones that Samsung is creating.
Based on previous releases, Samsung has long been experimenting with different display types for smartphones, specifically when they launched the Galaxy Round curved smartphone in 2013 and the Galaxy Note Edge in 2014.
In 2013, Samsung released a video introducing the concept of an in-foldable smartphone. Because of this, it appears that Samsung has begun a while back in creating the concept for a foldable smartphone.
But speculations point out that the upcoming foldable smartphone models for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 are expected to be out-foldable. The out-foldable devices are also anticipated to have curved OLED displays.
In a report from ET news, an executive from Samsung shared a statement regarding the foldable smartphone models.
"In-foldable smartphone is seen as a first type of a foldable smartphone. Out-foldable smartphone is the next step of in-foldable smartphone," the Samsung executive said. It appears that the company is taking measures to be at the top of innovative devices in the market.
Aside from the foldable structure, there are speculations that Samsung will remove the bezel on the upcoming smartphones and embed the home button to become part of the display. The new Samsung Galaxy models are also anticipated to have dual-lens cameras and an advanced rechargeable S Pen stylus.
Samsung is expected to release the new Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 in 2017.
