Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date, specs, rumors: Device anticipated to launch in August 2017
The release of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 into the market is expected to come before Apple reveals its new iPhone. The Note 8 is also anticipated to have a 4k Super AMOLED display and a dual-lens rear camera.
The Galaxy Note 8 is Samsung's upcoming newest smartphone in their Galaxy Note series, following the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 that was launched on Aug. 2, 2016. Samsung has always released a new Galaxy Note device during the Independent Field Advertiser tradeshows.
But PC Advisor anticipates that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 might be released in August next year, to beat Apple's new iPhone in entering the market. Although, it is still possible that Samsung will release the Galaxy Note 8 at a later date due to the recent crisis created by the Galaxy Note 7 batteries.
The company who manufactures batteries for Samsung is SDI, and according to Reuters, the company is still facing the impact of the Note 7 crisis as they are still reassuring their clients that their products are safe.
SDI has reportedly lost a fifth of its market value and gained double its third-quarters operating loss since the Note 7 issue.
Someone from SDI stated, "It's a matter of our capability ... We thought we had control (over all aspects of manufacturing), but it turned out there were some aspects we weren't able to govern."
An engineer who worked on the Note 7 battery said that one reason that caused its malfunction is that they were too focused on enhancing battery capacity and overlooked its reliability.
But the chief financial officer of SDI, Kim Hong-gyeong, reassured their clients, "We put the utmost priority on battery reliability, and will use this opportunity to further enhance customer trust."
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to have a 5.7-inch Quad-HD or 4K SuperAMOLED display, which is said to support the VR capability of videos and smartphone games. It is also expected to house a dual-lens rear camera that is rumored to have an advanced zoom-in feature.
The smartphone will run with the Android 7.0 Nougat and will have the heart-rate scanner, iris scanner, and fingerprint scanner.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is anticipated to debut in August. 2017.
