Samsung Galaxy Note Edge vs Galaxy Note 4 Review: Specs, Features Comparison - Basically The Same Inside
When Apple released its first phablet, the iPhone 6 Plus, to great sales figures in September this year, Samsung also released its Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4, which also debuted to great reviews.
Comparing the two phablets, it is clear that the Note Edge has a cutting edge display with its bent tip operating completely independently from its main screen. While the Note 4 doesn't have this extra portion of screen, it still has the classic Samsung features such as a faux leather back panel and stylus.
The Note Edge's super AMOLED display is slightly smaller at 5.6 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a pixel density of 525 pixels per inch, while the Note 4 doesn't lag behind with its super AMOLED display with the same resolution and density of 515 pixels per inch.
As for specs, although both phones may not look alike on the outside, they are just about the same inside. The Note 4 comes with an Exynos Octa 7 chip coupled with an octa-core 1900 MHz, ARM Cortex-A57 and ARM Cortex-A53 CPU. Compared to this the Note Edge has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 APQ8084 processor coupled with a Quad core, 2700 MHz, Krait 450 CPU. However, both have the same 3 GB worth of RAM.
Comparing their cameras, again there is no difference as both have 16 megapixel cameras at their rear and 3.7 megapixel cameras in front. An added feature in the Note 4 is the ability to take pictures during video recording. The cameras on both phones have optical image stabilization and continuous autofocus features.
Both phablets are pretty pricey for users who want to buy them without a contract from a carrier. The current price for the Note Edge without a contract can go up to $999 while under a two-year contract, the phablet is priced at nearly $400. As for the Note 4 it is priced at $299 with a contract and $799 without a contract.
