The Mobile World Congress, or M.W.C., will be kicking off on March 2 in Barcelona, Spain, and one of the most awaited events is "Samsung Unpacked," where Samsung is expected to unveil its next-generation smartphones and other devices.

With the upcoming release of the Galaxy S6, Samsung will reportedly drop the plastic body of its Galaxy S5 in favor of an aluminium chassis. The phone will have a 5.1-inch display.

News leaks differ on whether the new device will have a Full HD or LG G3-rivalling QHD resolution. There is an agreement, however, that the Galaxy S6 will introduce a stripped-back TouchWiz user interface, which will sit on top of the handset's Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

There is talk of a redesigned touch-based fingerprint scanner, similar to the iPhone 6.

The Galaxy S6 is also expected to be the first Samsung smartphone to use the firm's upcoming mobile payments service following the recent acquisition of LoopPay.

Other specifications include an octa-core Exynos processor with support for Cat 6 LTE speeds, a 16MP rear-facing camera with optical stabilization, a 5MP front-facing camera, 32, 64, and 128 GB storage options, and IP57 certification. The handset will come pre-loaded with the Samsung S Voice and S Health applications.

Samsung will also reportedly unveil the Galaxy S6 Edge, which is similar to the Galaxy Note Edge, featuring a wrap-around display, which creates an "Edge Screen" along the side of the handset. No further details on this device have been revealed yet.

Samsung is also reportedly planning to launch during the M.W.C. its second-generation Galaxy Tab S tablet in its latest attempt to take on the iPad Air. Rumor has it that the Galaxy Tab S2 will be launched in two models – 8 inches and 9.7 inches. The 9.7-inch model is speculated to be thinner than the iPad Air 2 at a very slim 5.4mm. Both models would include QHD resolution displays, an octa-core Samsung Exynos chip, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage and dual 8MP and 2MP cameras.
