Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Sony Xperia Z3 Specs, Price Comparison: Features Review - Two Glass-Bodied Devices
Even before the Galaxy S6 was released last March 1, it was clearly evident that the latest Samsung flagship would be the smartphone to beat in 2015. As for its competition, many of last year's devices, including the Sony Xperia Z3, are still popular and will put up a good fight.
Design
Design is where the Galaxy S6 and the Xperia Z3 are similar as they feature a good amount of glass. The Galaxy S6 has a premium aluminum frame and a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for its back panel. It comes in three colors: blue, black, and gold and white. As for the Xperia Z3 it also has a glass back panel while its sides are reinforced with metal with a matte finish.
Display
Samsung went all out to provide its latest flagship device with one of the best displays. The Galaxy S6 comes with a Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch. As for the Xperia Z3, it has an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch.
Specs
The Galaxy S6 has as big edge when it comes to specs as it was released this year and comes with Samsung's latest Exynos 7420 chipset. Its CPU has four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz along with a Mali-T760 GPU. As for the Xperia Z3, its specs are still pretty decent even though it was released just over six months ago. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801chipset, a Quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.
Memory
Samsung decided not to include a memory slot on the Galaxy S6. As such, no external storage can be added. The Xperia Z3 has a slot which can be used to add up to 128 GB of storage. Coming to RAM, both devices have 3 GB versions.
Price
The 32 GB Galaxy S6 is available at $199 with a two-year contract, while the Xperia Z3 also costs $199 with a similar contract.
