Samsung Galaxy S8 news, release date and specs rumors: latest leak shows flagship's 6GB RAM, 256GB internal storage
Samsung's global debacle with its problematic Samsung Galaxy Note S7 has not only tarnished the South Korean firm's reputation from its consumers but has also taken away the company's continued power among its competition since it took over the top spot for the longest time.
Latest reports have pointed out that Samsung Electronics may have already been replaced by Huawei Technologies as the leader in Android smartphones. The result couldn't be more disastrous for the company as its latest fiasco has also shaved off some of its prized billions of revenues. But that throne may just be an inch away from the South Korean firm to snatch again from the Chinese manufacturer as the current leak of its flagship Samsung Galaxy S8 is proving to be what Samsung really is in the first place — power.
The new leak has been generated from the Chinese social network Weibo which indicated that Samsung Galaxy S8 will be coming with a now standardized 6GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 256GB of native storage. This is a significant improvement over its predecessor's 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Furthermore, the beefing up of its hardware has brought the upcoming iteration to the level of iPhone 7.
While this has not been confirmed by Samsung itself yet, Weibo has always been a powerhouse in terms of releasing these data. If proven true, Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in order to match the massive aspirations of its hardware.
Samsung Galaxy S8 is also tipped to be coming with ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. In addition, the groundbreaking feature should be able to detect fingerprints through its glass structure, as opposed to needing another sensor for it.
Samsung Galaxy S8 has also been pegged to come with two variants — a 5.7-inch and a larger 6.2-inch edge-to-edge display. The latter being the company's largest device to date.
Samsung may unveil these devices at the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) on Feb. 2017.
