Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs news 2016: Future S-series smartphones to follow Galaxy Note 7's display design?

Not much has been heard regarding the next device in Samsung's S-series brand, although it is highly speculated that the South Korean tech giant's next smartphone design will be unveiled in the coming months. Following the release of the company's powerful phablet, the Galaxy Note 7, many tech analysts and enthusiasts believe that Samsung's most recent gadget will serve as a pattern for their future products.

It is rumored that the curved screen display of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be adapted by the upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphones. | Samsung official website

Know Your Mobile reported that the Galaxy Note 7 did not include a flat screen display model of the phablet when it was first revealed earlier this month. People thought that the device will have another flat-faced smartphone variant aside from its sole curved EDGE display model. The online publication speculated that Samsung has decided to let go of the flat screen design for their devices, and therefore, it is possible that the Galaxy S8 smartphones will only feature the same curved EDGE screen display as sported by the Galaxy Note 7.

The website quoted Samsung's top executive speaking with The Korea Herald at the Galaxy Note 7 unveiling in New York, revealing that the company has already considered making the curved edge screen model as the new face of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup. However, the fate of Galaxy S8's look will still depend on the users' reception on the Galaxy Note 7's features and design. Nevertheless, if the Galaxy Note 7 becomes a hit with its new curved screen display, it is likely that the Galaxy S8 smartphone will also get rid of the flat-faced display model and solely feature the curved display variant.

According to Ecumenical News, the Galaxy S8 smartphones will support 4K screen resolution. The screen display will be around 5.5-inch in length, and together with its crystal clear 4K display, the Galaxy S8 will be fitted to play applications in virtual reality format. As for the device's core specifications, it is not yet clear whether the Galaxy S8 will make use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor or the Exynos 8995 chipset.

Samsung Galaxy S8 might also come aboard with the latest smartphone designs today with respect to their camera features. It is possible that the smartphone will have a dual sensor camera, just like what is rumored for Apple's iPhone 7 Plus variant.
