Samsung Gear 2 vs LG Watch Urbane Specs, Price Comparison: Features Review - Style a Plus Point for LG Device

When it comes to smartwatches, Samsung with its Gear line has been a major player in the market over the past few years. But all that could change with the release of the stylish LG Watch Urbane which many industry insiders have dubbed as the "best competitor to the Apple Watch."

Design

The LG Watch Urbane is miles ahead of the Samsung Gear 2 in terms of style and design. It comes with a round body crafted from steel that sports either a gold or silver polish.

Additionally, the watch comes with a natural leather strap in two colors – black and brown. The strap can be replaced with any other standard 22mm band. As for the Samsung Gear 2, it has a rectangular steel watch face that comes in two colors – black and gold. The straps on the device are made from plastic and come in a variety of colors such as orange, chocolate brown and black. In terms of dust and water resistance, both devices have an IP 67 rating, which means they can be submerged to a depth of up to one meter of water for about 30 minutes without incurring damage. The Samsung Gear 2, which has a Tizen OS, can receive and make calls when paired with a Android phone. The LG Watch Urbane, on the other hand, runs Android Wear.

Display

The display on the Samsung Gear 2 is a 1.63-inch super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 320x320 pixels and a density of 278 pixels per inch. As for the LG Watch Urbane, it has a 1.3-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and a density of 245 pixels per inch.

Specs

On the LG Watch Urbane is a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset along with 4GB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM. As for the Samsung Gear 2, it has a dual core CPU clocked at 1 GHz along with 4 GB of flash storage and 512MB of RAM.

Sensors

Both devices come with heart rate sensors. The Samsung Gear 2 has a pedometer that is lacking on the LG Watch Urbane. However, the latter has an accelerometer, gyro, compass and barometer.

Price

The Samsung Gear 2 is priced at $300 on Amazon, while the LG Watch Urbane could be costlier than its predecessor, the LG G Watch R, which currently costs $300.
