Samsung Gear S3 release date, news, specs: Watch comes in two variants
Samsung is gearing up for the release of its latest smartwatch, the Gear S3. After making its debut in September during the IFA, the gadget is now up for grabs.
According to reports, pre-order for the device has already started. In South Korea, Samsung already rolled out the smartwatch. It will be making its way to other countries soon including the U.S., U.K., France, Australia, Singapore and Dubai.
Interested customers can avail of the device on Amazon, Best Buy, Samsung and selected stores for $350. But those who are planning to purchase it must decide quickly as stocks are limited.
For those who are not yet aware, the Samsung Gear S3 comes in two variants. One is called the Gear S3 Classic while the other one is called the Gear S3 Frontier. The former leans towards a sleek and stylish look while the latter gives off a rugged and sporty design, perfect for those who are into outdoor activities.
Despite its difference in the design aspect, reports say that both watches share the same specs and features. The Gear S3 duo comes with a 1.3-inch 360 x 360 circular AMOLED screen with 1 GHz dual-core processor. It is equipped with 768 MB of RAM and has a native storage space of 4 GB. Its battery capacity is 380 mAh and the company claims that its life can last around three to four days. It can last longer than that though with the help of its energy-saving feature.
Moreover, it's detailed that both variants of the device come with water- and dust-resistant features and are powered by Tizen. They are also equipped with a speedometer, GPS, heart rate sensor, barometer and altimeter. The difference between the Classic and Frontier is that only the latter comes with 4G LTE.
The Samsung Gear S3 will be available starting Friday, Nov. 18.
