Samsung Notebook Odyssey release date, specs, price news: Samsung introduces first-ever gaming laptop at CES 2017
Samsung recently introduced its first-ever gaming laptop, the Samsung Notebook Odyssey, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Having been designed with gamers in mind, the portable PC packs a lot of power in order to deliver a premium gaming experience and making it one of the best gaming laptops available in the market.
The Samsung Notebook Odyssey comes in two variants: a 17.3-inch model and a 15.6-inch version. Both feature a Full HD display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1080 pixels. The screen is very bright with life-like color reproduction and a wide-angle view display for a dynamic visual experience. There is also anti-glare coating to minimize reflections that could serve as distractions while playing.
The Samsung Notebook Odyssey will be powered by the seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor. The 17.3-inch model will have support for up to 64 GB of random access memory (RAM) and dual storage with up to 512 GB of solid state drive (SSD) and 1 TB of hard disk drive (HDD). The model's graphics card has not yet been finalized. It will come with a 93 Wh battery and a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 3.
Meanwhile, the 15.6-inch model comes with support for up to 32 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB SSD with 1 TB HDD of storage. It is equipped with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics processing unit (GPU) with 2 GB of dedicated video RAM and a 43 Wh battery.
Both models have the HexaFlow Vent, an advanced cooling and ventilation system that prevents the laptop from heating up during intense gaming sessions. This ensures maximum performance and uninterrupted play.
Despite being equipped with several gaming-centric features, the Samsung Notebook Odyssey retains a sleek and portable design. The larger variant weighs 3.79 kg while the smaller model weighs 2.53 kg.
The Samsung Notebook Odyssey gaming laptop will be available to purchase in early 2017 with a starting price of $1,199 for the 15.6-inch model.
