San Antonio Spurs trade rumors: Spurs eyeing to trade big man

Despite leading in the Southwest Division, things have not been perfect for the San Antonio Spurs.

As of writing time, the Spurs are on top with a 7-3 record; however, they seem to be a few notches behind their rivals in terms of chemistry.

Many expected the Spurs to be the biggest challengers against the Golden State Warriors this season, with Kahwi Leonard taking on a bigger role for the Spurs and LaMarcus Aldridge partnering with another legendary big man, Pau Gasol.

Unfortunately, it has not been their dream start and it seems that Gasol's chemistry with the Spurs might be the factor. As a result, there are talks considering Gasol to move out of the team and the person linked to come in is the Los Angeles Clippers' Blake Griffin.

While this is a big potential move, it is highly unlikely given where the two players are in the stages of their careers.

Gasol is still a great big man, but with 15 seasons already under his belt, the Spaniard has little left in the tank. Looking at his numbers, Gasol averages 18.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He is also one of the better passing big men as he averages 3.3 assists per game.

However, with the Spurs it has dipped significantly as he only averages 8.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in the first eight match-ups.

Meanwhile, Griffin is at the peak of his powers as he is averaging 21.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. He is also leading the Clippers at the moment while averaging a double-double with 19.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.

If this trade were to happen, the Spurs are likely to give up more significant players and probably even their future draft picks.

It should be interesting to see how things unfold later on.
