The eighth installment of the "Saw" movie franchise is slated for an October 2017 debut, and it might feature the return of Jigsaw, played by Tobin Bell.

"Saw: The Final Chapter" was the seventh and supposedly last film from the blood-filled horror movie franchise. However, "Saw" has been revived for an eighth movie, but it is yet to be confirmed if this will be a remake or a sequel to "Saw VII."

The Tracking Board reports that the original director and the original screenwriter of "Saw," James Wan and Leigh Whannell, respectively, will only play the role of executive producers of "Saw: Legacy." "Predestination" and "Undead" directors Michael and Peter Spierig have been called by Lionsgate to direct, while "Piranha 3D" pair Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger will be screenwriters of the film.

Charlie Clouser has been tapped to score "Saw: Legacy," and he expressed his excitement in the project with The Hollywood Reporter.

"After a six-year break from the world of Saw, this will be an opportunity for me to reimagine how I approach the score, and I'll be trying a more stark, bold and stripped-down approach that will be more in line with the strong vision that the Spierig brothers are bringing to the table," Clouser explained.

Meanwhile, the mastermind behind the bloody trap rooms, John Kramer, a.k.a. Jigsaw, had already died in the third "Saw" film, which raises questions as to what storyline will the upcoming "Saw: Legacy" feature. There are speculations that Jigsaw will be coming back from the dead.

According to a source from Bloody Disgusting, Jon Cor, who portrayed Ryan in "Saw 3D," was seen on set with Bell. It is expected that Kramer will be dug up from his grave by Ryan and Brad (Sebastian Pigott), who were revealed to be two of the men in pig masks at the end of "Saw 3D." But how Kramer will have life in the movie is yet to be revealed.

But photos posted on an Instagram account revealed that the trap room set up for "Saw: Legacy" is actually a barn. The trap room is said to have "spike strips and motorcycles."

"Saw: Legacy" is expected to debut in October 2017.
