'Scandal' Season 4 Finale Spoilers: 'No One's Safe' in 'Shock-a-rific,' 'Cataclysmic' Ending
The Season 4 finale of "Scandal" may not be advisable for the faint of heart. Katie Lowes, who plays Quinn Perkins, said viewers need to keep rolls of Kleenex nearby as they watch the season finale on Thursday, May 14, on ABC. "People are going to be sad," she told Access Hollywood.
At least three people will die, Katie disclosed. However, she couldn't reveal the names of those who will meet their demise, simply saying that it's "going to be rough."
"I'm sorry in advance. That's all I can say," she said. "I'm sorry for all the feelings and emotions that are gonna rise up through you as you witness this episode."
How do the other "Scandal" stars describe the season finale to Access Hollywood?
Kerry Washington: "Shock-a-rific"
Darby Stanchfield: "Titillating"
Jeff Perry: "Cataclysmic"
Tony Goldwyn: "Topsy-turvy"
Portia de Rossi: "Ri-donk"
The season finale will find Olivia Pope (Washington) and her associates making a big move to take down the black ops organization B613 and its leader Rowan Pope (Joe Morton). They will learn the hard way that "You Can't Take Command," the title of the episode.
"This season's finale is full of twists and turns that I never saw coming," Washington told EW. "No one is safe. No one is immune. It's an old school 'Scandal' whirlwind of shock and awe."
Considering B613's power and apparently infinite resources, the possibility of destroying the organization for good seems highly improbable. "I hope the aftermath is no more B613, but I don't know if that can ever happen," said Scott Foley, who plays Jake Ballard. "I think the government, at least the 'Scandal' government, and maybe even our government, always needs someone, something, some system to do the things that the traditional espionage agencies can't do. I think Jake would be great at running [a] better version. How about that? We can give it a whole other number and letter. C714."
Even attempting to take B613 down will force Olivia Pope and her allies to cross lines they never could've imagined. "In the finale many of the characters are put to difficult decisions, and very important decisions, and decisions that have huge ramifications," said actor Joshua Malina, who portrays Attorney General David Rosen in the series.
"The audience and the fans are going to feel very differently about certain characters on this show. What they felt for them is going to completely change after they see the finale," added Guillermo Diaz, who plays Huck in the show.
Diaz teased that the question of whether Huck will reconcile with his family will be answered in the season finale. "We find out that he will do anything possible to have them in his life again, and he's capable of anything, so he's a bit of a loose cannon right now. It's a bit scary," he said.
As viewers learned during the penultimate episode, Rowan has at least one more trick up his sleeve to stop Olivia Pope from interfering. The trick involves First Lady Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young), whom Rowan met under false pretences. "He's pretending to be somebody else in order to extract information," Morton teased.
Still, Olivia may have the upper hand in one regard as she's previously shown her willingness to kill her father. "I don't think he would ever kill his daughter," Morton said.
However, someone else wants to end Rowan's life just as much as Olivia.. "Until Rowan is dead, or gone forever—and I don't know how else you do that but die—Jake is not safe," Foley said. "He'll always be looking over his shoulder, as will Olivia."
With that said, "there will be some casualties," Malina cautioned, "of one type or another."
Gladiators, you have been warned.
