'Scandal' Season 6 air date, spoilers, update: Major character rumored to bid farewell; Olivia pregnant?

After the much-heated US presidential elections in real life, the fans of the hit political drama thriller "Scandal" must brace for another heart-wrenching election drama, especially that the recent rumors suggest a deadly outcome of the elections.

According to the latest rumors, the presidential election will not go as peacefully as everyone has hoped for. In fact, a major character might be among the casualties of a bloody political fight. To recall, the previous season had Mellie (Bellamy Young) and Cyrus (Jeff Perry) battling it out for the presidency, and if the rumors are anything to go by, their showdown might also take the lives of a few. Nevertheless, the victor will be revealed in the upcoming Season 6 premiere.

Moreover, the latest rumors for "Scandal" Season 6 suggest Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) will be reeling from the loss of this major character. While some reports say that one of the first scenes of the season will be at a funeral, it is more likely that the viewers will be taken to a hospital as shown in the first few teasers.

The teaser trailer for Season 6 also shows Olivia and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) seemingly working together smoothly, even after the issues that they had in the previous season. However, the effects of the presidential elections might affect the way the two characters look at each other.

Meanwhile, there are also rumors that one of the characters is going to give birth in Season 6. Game N Guide reported that this character is none other than Olivia herself. This speculation came out from the actual pregnancy of Washington while the production of "Scandal" Season 6 is ongoing. If this turned out correct, then Liv's pregnancy will greatly affect her priorities and relationships with other people, especially with Fitz.

Still, there is a possibility that Washington's character will not end up being pregnant as well, as the actress already gave birth to her child earlier in October. Thus, the production for Season 6 does not need to be adjusted as filming resumes in the near future.
