'Scandal' season 6 premiere date, news, spoilers: Liv changes election results for Mellie?
Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) might just put the result of election night in her hands once again. Meanwhile, an explosion will be putting someone's life in danger.
Previously in "Scandal" season 5, Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) is running as the Republican candidate alongside Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) as her vice president, while Frankie Vargas (Ricardo Chavira) is the Democratic candidate partnered with Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry)
"Scandal" season 6 will start off with the results from election night, revealing who will become the President of the United States.
There are speculations that the Democratic party will be taking the win for this elections, and based on the "Scandal" season 6 promo, it might be true. But Olivia is not willing to let that happen.
The two are in a heated argument when Mellie tells Liv that she is over the presidency, but Liv fiercely responds, "I am not." Liv's response gives Mellie pure confusion.
It is possible that Olivia has already foreseen that Frankie will be winning the elections and that she will take it upon herself to change that fate. It is expected that even the tagline "The balance of power is about to shift" refers to Liv interfering with the results of the elections.
Meanwhile, TV Guide reports that someone might be harmed from a cabin explosion come "Scandal" season 6.
In the season 6 promo, Huck (Guillermo Diaz) and Quinn (Katie Lowes) are seen approaching a cabin when it suddenly explodes. It is speculated that since Liv and Abby (Darby Stanchfield) were also seen running around a hospital, someone might have been struck by the explosion in the cabin.
The title of season 6's premiere episode is "Survival of the Fittest," which could mean two things. It could either refer to the winners of the presidential elections, or it could be pointing to a survivor from the cabin explosion.
"Scandal" season 6 premieres on Jan. 19 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
