'Scream Queens' season 2 spoilers, plot news: The Chanels to get involved again in murder; new season expected to be 'darker'
"Scream Queens" season 2 which will be "darker" than its predecessor will see Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts) and the rest of her minions called The Chanels graduate from the Wallace University and move into an entirely new setting — a hospital wherein some interestingly strange medical cases are observed and examined. In their new location, the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority sisters will find themselves weaved through another murder mystery.
Entertainment Online reported that the cast members expressed excitement toward the new routes and adventures that their characters will take on in the show.
At Fox's recent event in New York City, Jamie Lee Curtis who plays Dean Cathy Munsch offered some teasers for the upcoming season of the comedy-horror show. She said that in season 2 there will be "a lot of darkness" alluding to the hospital setting, a location which provides classic situations and circumstances for a horror-themed show — the naturally eerie hallways and rooms, sharp objects and presence of plenty of blood.
In the same event, Fox's Upfront Party, Roberts also talked a bit about the series. She disclosed that there will be new characters who will join them in the forthcoming season, which she assured will be "fun and wild" despite not having gone through the entire script yet.
It can be remembered that Robert's narcissistic character was incriminated in murder cases in season 1. She was at some point sentenced for a lifelong stay at the Palmer Mental Institute together with The Chanels.
Meanwhile, Lee Curtis' character reportedly will choose to leave and become a globe-trotter following the campus murders. Later on, she will become a bestselling author and will use her profits to buy the mental institute where The Chanels are admitted. The former Dean will try to restore the facility and will be famous for admitting hopeless patients from other institutions.
Lea Michele also granted some details about the development of her character in "Scream Queens," Hester Ulrich. It was already revealed that Ulrich is a Red Devil killer, and Michele said it will get "even crazier this year than last year" for Ulrich.
So far, "Scream Queens" has had its fair share of nominations and awards since its season 1 premiere in September 2015, including a People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy and a Golden Globe nomination for Lee Curtis.
"Scream Queens" season 2 is set to premiere on Fox later this year.
