While various details about "Seven Deadly Sins" season 2 have been released, until now, no official word has been given about its release date. Nevertheless, something special's about to brew for avid fans of the anime.

The Anime News Network has revealed that a four-episode special is being prepared for fans of "Seven Deadly Sins." According to the report, the special titled "The Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War" will be shown beginning on Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. on MBS and TBS. Episodes dubbed in English are expected to come out in 2017. Apparently, the special will focus on a particular arc of the story.

Internal changes in the production crew could be the reason why the release of "Seven Deadly Sins" season 2 is yet unconfirmed. There are reports that Tomokazu Tokoro will be directing the upcoming season, which purportedly will have an all-new theme. Aside from Tokoro, Keigo Sasaki would be back to design the characters according to Yibada.

The makers of the anime are keeping a tight lid on the upcoming season's plot and new characters. What has been confirmed thus far is that Yuuki Kaji will be back to lend his voice to Meliodas. Other voice actors reprising their roles are Sora Amamiya as Elizabeth, Misaki Kuno as Hawk, Aoi YÅ«ki as Diane, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ban, and Jun Fukuyama as King. Production-wise, Yuniko Ayana has been named as the anime's new scriptwriter and will be joining Yuichiro Kido in that area.

The writer and illustrator of the manga series on which "Seven Deadly Sins" is based has previously said that he plans to release three main story arcs consisting of 100 chapters each. That will give the manga 300 new chapters that could be used for the second season of the anime.

Still, that bit is based on pure speculation, so fans would do well to continue tuning in for more updates regarding "Seven Deadly Sins" season 2.
