'Shadowhunters' season 2 episode 2 spoilers: Clary tries to find her place; EP hints Sebastian's introduction

Clary (Katherine McNamara) longs for the good old days on the upcoming episode of Freeform's supernatural drama "Shadowhunters" season 2.

Titled "A Door Into the Dark," next week's episode will see Clary finding it difficult to find where she belongs, while Simon (Alberto Rosende) seeks help from Magnus (Harry Shum Jr.). According to the official synopsis, the hunt for Jace Wayland continues, so Isabelle and Alec must race against the clock to find him before the rest of the Shadowhunters do. The Lightwood siblings are pressured to act fast after the Clave announced a shoot-to-kill order against Jace.

Upon doing his own search, Simon meets up with Magnus to ask for help when he finds himself in disagreement with both Aldertree and Raphael. Meanwhile, Clary struggles to find where she truly belongs because she doesn't seem to fit into the world of Shadowhunters, yet she also can't return to her ordinary life.

Aside from new twists for its core group of characters, season 2 is also expected to bring in new faces from Cassandra Clare's best-selling novels. TV Line reports that Sebastian, one of Clare's most twisted creations, will soon be introduced this season. Executive producer Matt Hastings recently caught up with the publication, and he talked about how they want to see Sebastian's TV counterpart.

"We need someone who can be compassionate, and who may seem like a decent person on the surface," he said. "But anybody that's been tortured that much in the bowels of hell by a demon... man, they did terrible things to him. They tore his skin off, layer by layer. That kind of dramatic resonance never goes away from a person, no matter how you shellac it," the EP added.

Born Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern, Sebastian Morgenstern is the son of Jocelyn Fray and Valentine Morgenstern. He is also the older brother of Clary Fray. As a result of the experiments done on him by his own father, Sebastian was born a Shadowhunter with demon blood.

The second season of "Shadowhunters" airs every Monday at 8 p.m. ET on Freeform.
