'Shameless' Season 5 Release Date, Spoilers: Plot Unpredictable and More Complex
A more unpredictable and complicated black comedy-drama awaits fans of "Shameless" when the hit Showtime TV series returns for its Season 5 sometime next year.
The remake of the award-winning British drama series of the same name was renewed for another season earlier this year. Initial shootings for the new episodes were reported to have started in July this year.
However, the exact date for the start of Season 5 has not yet been announced. Unconfirmed reports said "Shameless" will start airing its brand new season in early 2015.
In the meantime, the TV show's social media account has been giving updates on the new episodes of "Shameless." They include a new love interest for Fiona Gallagher, played by Emmy Rossum. The new guy is a handsome musician to be played by Steve Kazee. He will be competing with Charlie, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, for Fiona's affections.
Fiona's true love, however, is still Jimmy/Steve, played by Justin Chatwin. He was thought to have died, but towards the end of Season 4, he was revealed to be alive but with a new name, Jack. He returned to the scene in the season finale although the Gallagher family was not aware of it because he decided to keep quiet.
The return of Chatwin's character could mean that he will once again try to win Fiona's heart back in Season 5.
What has raised eyebrows was the report that most of the "Shameless" cast members didn't know of Chatwin's return to the set. "He got his own makeup crew, and his scenes were filmed in secret," one insider said.
Showtime continues to dish out more spoilers for the fans who are eager to know what will happen to the Gallaghers, a family described as the most dysfunctional in America.
Entertainment Weekly came up with a hint that one Gallagher will get lucky and fall in love next season.
Another new development is that Emily Bergl, who plays Sammi Gallagher in the show, has been promoted to a regular cast member.
Dermont Mulroney will reportedly join the show as Sean Pierce, described as "a recovering addict and the new manager at Patsy's Pies" where Fiona works.
There are speculations that Pierce's innocent relationship with Fiona may grow when Season 5 starts airing.
