'Shameless' season 8 spoilers: Showtime confirms season 8 renewal

The Gallaghers will be back for another round of chaos after Showtime announced that the critically acclaimed dramedy will return for season 8.

The renewal announcement was revealed just hours after the series wrapped up its seventh season. This means that Showtime and lead actress Emmy Rossum managed to iron out the salary dispute.

According to reports, Rossum wants to have a salary parity with her co-star William H. Macy. Her camp reportedly demanded that she should get a bigger paycheck if she will continue to portray the role of Fiona Gallagher to make up for the past seven seasons where she reportedly earned lesser than Screen Actors Guild Award-winning actor.

While the details about their contract remain undisclosed, Rossum revealed through her Twitter account that she is glad to continue working with her "Shameless" family when they all get back to work in May.

At the end of season 7, the Gallaghers had to rely on each other to deal with Monica's (Chloe Webb) death. The dysfunctional family's matriarch died just a day after she remarried and had an ugly altercation with Frank (Macy).

Fiona and the rest of her siblings had to make an arrangement for their mother's funeral, but they managed to find seven large bags of crystal meth while rummaging through her belongings inside the storage unit that Monica owned when she was still alive.

The eldest Gallagher daughter wanted to flush all the illegal substance down the drain, but her siblings wanted to make money using the crystal meths. But Fiona knew that it would only spell trouble for her already dysfunctional family. She decided to stash some of it inside her mother's coffin so it will be buried with her.

Aside from Rossum and Macy, the eighth season of "Shameless" is also expected to feature the return of Jeremy Allen White as Lip Gallagher, Ethan Cutkosky as Carl Gallagher, Shanola Hampton as V Fisher, Steve Howey as Kevin Ball, Emma Kenney as Debbie Gallagher, Cameron Monaghan as Ian Gallagher, and Isidora Goreshter and Svetlana Fisher in the series.

"Shameless" season 8 is expected to be released in 2017.
