"Sister Wives" gets a new shocker when Mariah finally comes out of the closet to her family. And while the situation may be far from ideal, the Browns bond together and rally behind Meri's daughter.

Unconventional may be their lifestyle in propagating a polygamous household, Mariah admits that it is still difficult going out of the norm and eventually accepting herself for who she really is. Growing in a devout fundamentalist Mormon made her struggle much more tumultuous.

"It was something I was so scared of in myself," she told People Magazine in an exclusive chit-chat regarding her revelation. "If you were to ask me my biggest fear, it would have been to be gay," she said.

A self-confessed homophobe before having her personal epiphany, Mariah tried to suppress what she was really feeling until it took a huge toll on her daily life causing sleepless nights and panic attacks. Fortunately, during a high school trip, she met someone gay who shared his story with her.

"That was sort of the start of realizing this is okay," she says. "My whole life I tried to shut it out. I was finally letting myself be real. I had this image I had to uphold, and when I started letting that go, I realized I didn't have to be the person I thought I had to be," she added.

In the latest episode of "Sister Wives," fans were able to glimpse of how Mariah told her family about her realization. Initial shock met her announcement which quickly turned into acceptance from everyone including her father, Kody. Meri, who was trying to come to terms with her daughter's situation, also carried the burden of Mariah's animosity toward her because of her catfishing incident. While the whole family headed to a mountain resort, the duo appeared to be uneasy with each other.

Needless to say, Meri is standing by Mariah telling the media outlet, "I'm so proud of her for having the strength."

Even Robyn, who is Kody's fourth and latest partner also sends her well wishes and kind words: "No matter what our religion says, what my heart says is that she is our daughter and she is a person and she has a right to her truth," she said.
