In its last episode, "Sleepy Hollow" dealt with a serial killer who was trapped in his own unfinished painting and tried to set himself free by killing people. Last Monday's episode titled "Pittura Infamante" also saw the return of Irving (Orlando Jones) from the dead with Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) struggling to deal with it.

The action started with Abbie helping Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) get ready for dinner at the Historical Society.

At the dinner which Ichabod attended with Katrina (Katia Winter), Hollister the restorer was murdered. Katrina then quickly deduced that the man in the painting was Colby, the criminal who was responsible for a number of murders in the 1780s and was imprisoned in the painting by Abigail Adams (Michelle Trachtenberg) who was a friend of Katrina and also a witch.

Ichabod and Katrina were unable to stop Colby from abducting Miller, the museum's boss. Katrina then cast a spell that put her along with Ichabod in the painting.

Meanwhile, Abbie found that Frank Irving had returned from the dead and had appeared at the police station. She then promptly threw him in jail as she believed that he had sold his soul to Henry and was now evil. Abbie also prevented Irving's wife Cynthia (Jill Marie Jones) from meeting with him, reminding her that he had already died.

Abbie then sent Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) to get bullets forged from the gates of hell which were used to kill a Zombie. Jenny managed to do this even though the zombie reanimated once she removed the last bullet and she had to think quickly and replace one bullet in his body to kill him again.

Back at the museum, Katrina cast another spell to get herself, Ichabod and Miller out from the painting into the real world, but Colby also returned. However, Abbie reached in time with the bullets retrieved by Jenny and proceeded to shoot the painting which resulted in Colby's death.
