Mick Thomson Stabbed: Slipknot Guitarist Gets Stabbed in Back of the Head by Brother in Iowa Fight
The guitarist for the band "Slipknot" Mick Thomson was found stabbed in the back of the head after a bloody knife fight with his brother in Clive, Iowa, on Wednesday. The altercation happened when both were drunk. The fight started inside their house and then spilled out to their front yard.
Police arrived at their residence shortly around 4.25 a.m. after they received reports that the two brothers were fighting in the yard of their house. When they arrived they found two men with "non-life threatening" knife wounds. They were later identified as Mickael Gordon Thomson, 41, who resides in Clive, and Andrew John Thomson, 35, who resides in West Des Moines.
Mickael, who goes by the name of Mick in the band Slipknot, was stabbed in the back of his head.
Both men were transported to hospital in separate ambulances. The police chief of Clive, Michael Venema subsequently stated that both men were not "very cooperative." He then added that detectives from the police would be questioning them as " soon as their medical situation allows its."
Shortly after the incident, Corey Taylor, the lead singer of the band, tweeted that "Mick was okay."
Both men have already been released from hospital. No arrest has been made even as the police continued to investigate the incident.
Mick goes by the name Number 7 on stage. Soon after news of the incident broke out, the manager of the group said Slipknot, including Mick, would be performing as scheduled next month. He said the band would kick of its upcoming North American tour on April 25 and it will last until May. After that, the band, which won a Grammy in 2006, will head over to Europe and return to America in July for their summer tour that will last until September.
