Sony Xperia XR release date, specs news: Leaked details suggest September launch
Rumors are rampant that Sony is going to release a new smartphone this year called Xperia XR. According to reports, leaked information has been spotted online, which suggest that the device will come out in September.
The new Sony Xperia XR could be Sony's answer to the rumored Apple iPhone 7, which is also said to be released in September along with other Apple devices.
The Japanese electronics company has already released several devices in 2016 including the new Xperia X series. The new line is composed of three smartphones such as the Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia X performance. However, the new handsets were unsuccessful in attracting the attention of consumers as it failed miserably in the market compared to other brands in the competition.
The new Sony Xperia XR has recently been spotted on leaked renders. According to reports the device will carry impressive specs and features that will definitely put up a good fight against the iPhone 7 and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
If rumors prove to be true, the Sony Xperia XR will run on Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm paired with 3 GB of RAM. Tech observers are hoping that Sony will also offer another variant with 4 GB of RAM for multitasking purposes.
Reports also suggest that the new smartphone will carry a Dual-LED flash system and a USB Type-C port. It is also expected to come with 23 MP primary camera set up and a 13 MP front-facing snapper. The device will also run on a pre-installed Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. As of the moment, no reports have been spotted suggesting if the device will get the Android Nougat update once the new Google OS hits the market.
Meanwhile, Sony has yet to make an official announcement with regard to the Xperia XR. However, there are speculations saying that the new smartphone could be launched at 2016 IFA event in Berlin.
