Sony Xperia Z4 vs Galaxy S6 Edge Specs and Price Comparison: Both Have Great Specs, But S6 Edge Grabs Attention
The Galaxy S6 Edge has repeatedly been billed as the "most beautiful phone in the world" by reviewers who have been impressed by its lovely curved screen. Compared to this the recently announced Sony Xperia Z4 has a simple but sturdy design and is very similar to its predecessor the Xperia Z3.
Design
After experimenting with a curved display on the Note Edge last year, Samsung decided to design a dual curved screen on the S6 Edge. On this device, the screen flows over the right and left edges which can display a night clock, colors and photos associated with five important contacts, and news notifications. As for its build, the S6 Edge has a metal frame and Gorilla Glass 4 on its back panel. The Xperia Z4,on the other hand, has no stunning element in its design. It has a metal frame and glass for it back panel though which gives it a premium look and feel. Additionally it has a water and dust proof rating of IP 68, which its competitor does not have.
Display
The Galaxy S6 Edge has a wonderfully crisp display, thanks to its Super AMOLED screen which measures 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch. As for the Xperia Z4, it has an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch.
Specs
In terms of specs, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Xperia Z4 are fairly equal as both have the latest chipsets. The Xperia Z4 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, an octa core CPU and an Adreno 430 GPU. As for the S6 Edge, it comes with an Exynos 7420 chipset, an octa core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU.
Memory
The Xperia Z4 comes with a memory slot which can be used to add up to 128 GB of external storage. The S6 Edge does not have one. In terms of RAM, both devices have 3 GB on board.
Price
The Sony Xperia Z4 could cost around $900 in its unlocked form if it is released in the United States. The 32 GB Galaxy S6 Edge costs $299 with a two-year contract.
