The upcoming TV series, "Star Trek Discovery," is yet to come out on television screens, but it has already gained a lot of fans. Latest news reveals that "Walking Dead" cast member Sonequa Martin-Green will join "Star Trek Discovery," sparking rumors that she will die in the zombie-themed series.

It is just understandable to assume that when one cast member joins a different TV show, viewers would expect that death will soon come. The latest debate regarding "Star Trek Discovery" is whether actress Sonequa Martin-Green will be killed in "The Walking Dead" series.

Martin-Green will take the role of a lieutenant commander in the upcoming "Star Trek Discovery," which is up for release in May 2017 with 13 episodes. Doubts have sprouted that Green's character in "The Walking Dead" will be killed, following the same fate of actor Steven Yeun who joined "Okja."

However, an AMC representative clarified the rumors and said that Martin-Green will remain as "The Walking Dead's" regular cast member. The series will return in February with Negan to continue his vicious killings of the other surviving members of the group.

As for her character in "Star Trek Discovery," details have been scarce. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, former showrunner Bryan Fuller said, "We wanted to paint a picture of Starlet that's indicative of encountering people who are much more different than we are."

Aside from Martin-Green's character, the upcoming TV show will also feature the first-ever openly gay character played by Anthony Rapp, taking on the role as a lieutenant.

"Star Trek Discovery" is a spinoff of the series by Gene Roddenberry. The show was originally headed by Fuller, but due to creative conflicts with CBS, he decided to resign from the position. The TV show is set to premiere in May and will be available on All Access streaming service.
