By this time next year, gamers can already binge-play on the second full iteration of "Star Wars Battlefront" as confirmation from folks behind the title has previously been issued. But what exactly does the sequel bring to the video game? Although it is still very early for a detailed rollout, one thing is already in the bag with a campaign mode finally debuting via the game.

While the first "Battlefront" focuses more on the multiplayer mode, which works really well for those who prefer cooperative gaming, those who prefer a single-player category are left wondering about the potential of the game with regard to such a campaign setup. That is the issue that DICE and co-developer Motive Studios are looking to address in their next endeavor.

"The focus of the first game was to nail the core multiplayer experience of what DICE does great," Electronic Arts' (EA) Justin McCully said in his recent guesting stint with the Achievement Oriented podcast. "That was the strategy of that title. And now as we expand in the universe we have better sense of what characters are coming into play, what stories we can tell, what stories are maybe being told in a film versus a game, that's where we've really ramped up the interaction with the [Lucasfilm Story Group] to bring those games to market," he went on to say.

McCully's comments mirror that of EA DICE producer Paul Keslin who has previously acknowledged the backlash they have received for not having a single-player mode in "Battlefront." And although they have tried to make up for it via the continued release of new content, the company understands that the only way to make it right is to incorporate a full-fledged feature.

"We heard the fans loud and clear that the multiplayer was great, but it wasn't enough and they wanted that complete package. So the team has been very focused on delivering that single-player element," EA's senior brand manager added.

A slew of new content mined from the "Star Wars" movies can be expected via "Battlefront II." A sample of it was found in the recently released "Rogue One: Scarif" downloadable content (DLC) that had "Rogue One" hero Jyn Erso and anti-hero Orson Krennic playable for gamers. This poses immense potential especially with the yet-to-be-titled "Star Wars: Episode VIII" coming out around the same time as the follow-up title. Brand-new saga characters like Kylo Ren, Rey, Finn and Poe can mingle with the classic characters like Luke, Leia and Han.
