'Star Wars Battlefront' Rogue One: Scarif DLC release date news update: Infiltration mode offers both space and land gameplays

A couple of new contents are coming to "Star Wars Battlefront" this month as the "Star Wars" lore gears up for the release of its very first standalone film, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." The additional exploration brings three stages for gamers to play on with the first one looking every bit of a space dogfight unique to the sci-fi cult. X-Wings come in to help the Rebellion's U-Wing fleet as they try to get past some Star Destroyers in the first leg of the mission called "The Approach." To make matters a bit more challenging for virtual pilots, various debris floating around not to mention the Empire's TIE fighter ships hounding them before they reach their destination are also present.

Moving on to "The Distraction," the battle gets grounded as players land on the new planet of Scarif where the Rebels must set an explosive on one of the two Imperial enemy cargoes docked on landing platforms at opposite sides of the map. At this point, Stormtroopers hound the freedom fighters as they try to carry on their dire mission. Once the bombs are planted and have set off, players advance to the next and final level of the mode called "The Extraction."

With the operation's success already on the horizon, the rebels must get a hold of a number of datatypes to a waiting U-wing stationed before they can finally fly back to their base. A specific point in the map will help in determining the location of the hardware tipped to have essential information that will help their cause.

Like most modes in "Star Wars Battlefront," gamers can choose which side they would like to play on. They have the choice to work for Director Orson Krennic whose task is to stop the Rebellion from their mission. This also means that players who opt to be part of the Empire can man their TIE Fighters. On the flipside, Jyn Erso is leading the Alliance's pack.

What is interesting in this new Infiltration gameplay is it actually checks out to what will eventually go down in "Rogue One" with hints on the mode's background showing some parallelisms with the movie's trailers. The only difference is that in "Star Wars Battlefront," the fate of both sides will highly depend on the gamers while it is still unknown how the gritty battle in the shores of the planet will eventually turn out in the movie.

"Star Wars Battlefront" Rogue One: Scarif DLC is set to drop on Dec. 6. It comes alongside "Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission" which is an immersive PlayStation VR experience that let players pilot the famed Rebellion fighter ship.
