'Star Wars Battlefront: Scarif' DLC release date and news: New trailer for VR game released

Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" | StarWars.com

"Star Wars Battlefront" gamers just recently got the "Death Star" downloadable content (DLC), but there are already plans to release an expansion that goes side by side with Gareth Edwards' upcoming movie "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." What's more, a trailer has been released for "Battlefront's" X-Wing Virtual Reality (VR) mission.

Reports say that the "Scarif" DLC will be taking place in a tropical planet of the same name which will be introduced in the "Rogue One" movie. "Battlefront" also pulled the same stunt with "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" when it released the DLC expansion which took place in Jakku.

Rumors say that the playable heroes for the expansion will be Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) for the Rebellion and Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) for the Empire. Like the usual trend with the expansions, players should also expect a new game mode and new star cards to be available by the time "Scarif" comes out.

Seeing that "Rogue One" is set for release on the 16th of December, fans can expect the "Scarif" DLC to be available near that time period.

The DLC will reportedly be the last one that DICE is planning for "Battlefront" as it is going to release "Battlefront 2" next year. That game will be focusing more on the new trilogy of movies, so fans should expect locations like the Starkiller Base and Maz Kanata's castle to be playable maps, with Kylo Ren, Rey, and Finn as playable heroes as well.

In other news, a new trailer for "Battlefront's" X-Wing VR mission has been released, and the expansion will be available for the Playstation VR. The DLC will bring a whole new experience to the space battles between TIE Fighters and the X-Wings, and the VR experience is sure add something new to gameplay. The mission is also said to be related to "Rogue One" as well.

Players who already own "Star Wars Battlefront" can upgrade their copies to get the mission for free.

Playstation VR is going to be released on Oct. 13, but the "Scarif" DLC and X-Wing VR mission will be available to players sometime around the holidays.
